U OF MINNESOTA-KAROLINSKA JOINT COURSE ON PAIN AND ANALGESIA
Generous support provided from the Curtis Carlson Endowment for
International Education, enabled a joint U of Minnesota Institute
course on the basic science of pain and analgesia in Stockholm Sweden, May
2003. Ten Center for Pain Research faculty and a similar number from the
Karolinska Institute conducted the course. Eleven students attended from the
University of Minnesota. These students represented a variety of graduate
programs including Neuroscience, Pharmacology, Molecular Veterinary
Biosciences, and Pharmaceutics. Additionally, one Pharm D. student and one
Medical Fellow, both of whom are interested in pursuing pain management in
their future professional work, attended. Through this diversification, the
Center for Pain Research continues its commitment to providing formal
training in pain science to a variety of students in the allied health care
professions and graduate school.
The Center for Pain Research greatly appreciates additional support for this
course provided by Medtronic, Inc.
